Singers Ykee Benda and Cinderella Sanyu have been officially sworn in as the new President and Vice President of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) respectively.
The pair were legally sworn inat a ceremony held at Mestil Hotel, Nsambya following the departure of Sophie Gombya who resigned to pursue politics.
While swearing in, Ykee Benda and Cindy Sanyu promised to; serve the association wholeheartedly and exhibit good leadership skills.
The pair also thanked the outgoing president Sophie Gombya for everything she worked on during her leadership and wished her the best on her new journey.
UMA in a statement they issued to that effect, they emphasized how they are extremely expectant under the new leadership and also commended Sophie for steering the organization in her past remarkable services.
We look forward to a good leadership with these two at the top. We would like to also thank our outgoing president Sophie Gombya for everything she put in during her leadership and wish her the best in her new journey,” the statement read.
After the swearing in ceremony, Benda revealed that the highly debated Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) website was fully re-designed and launched last week.
UPRS is a body which collects artistes’ dividend from all music users (Radios, TVs, bars, beaches, restaurants, clubs, and online music sites, among other avenues) and in just a few weeks, artistes will be able to enjoy their loyalties.
“You will need your National ID, Email address, your phone, data of birth, label, and Payment model. We can do VISA, Mobile money, or bank, the website was launched last week, therefore we shall let you know when the registration shall begin,” Benda said.
The ‘Super man’ hit maker added that when all is done, the artists will then sit and have a general meeting to vote the board that shall run UPRS.
