Bryon Luswata

ENTEBBE: Mr Bryon Luswata, a third year student of Bachelor of Law has been voted Nkumba University guild president, becoming the third student identifying with People Power movement to win the post this year.
Mr Luswata was declared winner by the guild electoral commission chairperson Kim Mohammed following the polls that took place on March 30 across all schools within the university.

He polled 205 votes beating his closest challenger Timothy Obua, a second year student.

Mr Luswata garnered 205 votes beating five other candidates in the race to become guild president 2019-2020. His closest rival, Mr Timothy Obua, who also identified himself as a People Power candidate got 203 votes.
Independent candidates Darius Agaba got 161, Abel Lodu got 139 and Josephine Namatovu got 103 votes while Marvin Lwanga trailed with 41 votes.

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the largest opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) did not present candidates in the race, neither did Democratic Party (DP) and JEMA.

Mr Luswata said he was the first to identify with the People Power group associated with Kyaddondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine before Obua joined the race but this didn’t threaten him.
“I registered under People Power because we are the future generation and need to work for the future of our country,” he said shortly after he was declared winner.

Two other candidates identifying themselves with the movement have emerged winners of the guild race in two different universities.
Last month, Mr Julius Katerega and Jonathan Tundulu won Makerere University and Kyambogo University guild elections respectively.
