KAMPALA – The King of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has reshuffled the Kingdom Cabinet this evening where Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has retained his position.
The new changes have not only seen some retain their seats but also the merging of different ministries in a new set-up of only 14 from 23.
In the new cabinet announced on Friday, Dr. Twaha Kawaase who was serving as the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Education is now the First Deputy Prime Minister in charge of administration and ICT/Innovations replacing Emmanuel L Ssendaula who has been assigned a new role as Chairperson of the senior Kingdom Advisors’ Committee.
Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa who was serving as the Minister for Finance, Investment, Planning and Economic Development is now the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer.
Apollo N. Makubuya, former Kabaka Mutebi henchman, has been dropped from the post of 3rd Deputy Prime Minister (Katikkiro) and Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs and re assigned as senior advisor in the kingdom.
Former Kingdom Attorney General, David Mpanga has been appointed to a junior special duties ministry.
Other changes made include those of former Lukiiko speaker Nelson Kawalya who has been replaced by Patrick Mugumbule while Ahmed Lwasa has retained his deputy speaker seat.
Henry Ssekabembe has retained his seat as Minister for Youth, Sports and Recreation, while Noah Kiyimba retains his seat as Minister for information, protocal and Kingdom Spokesperson, among others.
The changes made by the King are expected to take immediate effect.
