Katikkiro Mayiga Vows To Arrest Anybody Who Steals From Kabaka

The Buganda Kingdom Premier, Charles Peter Mayiga has vowed to arrest anybody who dares to steal from the Kabaka of Buganda.

“I will arrest anybody who steals anything that belongs to the Kabaka,” Mayiga said this at the Annual Buganda Lukiiko in Bulange Mengo, Kampala on Monday.

Mayiga announced that so far they have raised over Shs 1.4bn for the renovation of the Amasiro.

He however, said some cheques they received as contributions from people bounced. “We have also got cheques that bounced worth 5.5m.”

Mayiga has assured the public that everything concerning the renovation of the Amasiro will be open to the public to ensure there is no shady business of embezzling the funds.

He also thanked the people of Ankole Kingdom for the money they fundraised for the Amasiro. “We raised Shs 84m in Ankole,” he added.

He commended James Tumusiime for doing a good job in preserving the Ankole culture. Mayiga expressed his respect to people who have showed their love to the Kingdom regardless of the religion.

“We respect anybody regardless of religious and political affiliations as long as they respect the Kabaka of Buganda.”

This week, the Buganda premier will go to Wakiso district, Kooki and Buddu.

Mayiga also announced that after building the Amasiro, they will embark on the building known as the Bulange Plaza.
