A cross section of stakeholders in Uganda’s Tourism Industry will on Tuesday, this week converge to deliberate on how best to revive tourism in Kasese district amidst the covid-19 pandemic.
The new coronavirus pandemic has triggered an unprecedented crisis not just in Kasese district but Uganda and the world as a whole.
However, finding immediate recovery and sustenance will be the task of the stakeholders who will engage in a round table Zoom Webinar.
According to a statement issued by Kasese Tourism Investors Forum (KTIF), the Chairman, Mr. Edwin Kugonza, observes that the forum normally organizes an annual event dubbed ‘Tourism Round Table Discussion’ where ideas are exchanged, networking fostered and marketing of each other’s investments is guaranteed.
He however, says that due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, a virtual round table tourism event has been organized this year instead of a physical one.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the forum has not been able to organize a physical event, however, it has organized an online round table discussion,” Mr. Kugonza said.
He revealed that the event will take place on Tuesday, August 11, via Zoom, Facebook live and YouTube live, and will run under the theme: “Kasese Tourism in the Post COVID19 era: Prospects, Opportunities, Challenges and Solutions.”
According to the statement from KTIF, the main panelists for the day will be Mr. Amos Wekesa, the CEO Great Lakes Safaris, Mr. David Gonahasa the Director Tripxio and Mr. Edwin Kugonza, the CEO Kisinga Safaris and lead organizer of the zoom meeting.
The main areas of discussion will range from branding and marketing, to getting an action plan that will help caution tourism investors in kasese district from the effects of COVID19.

KTIF, is an umbrella organization of tourism players from Kasese district. The forum encompasses different categories of investors who have the development of the tourism sector at heart.
Every year, the forum organizes an annual Round Table Tourism Discussion where ideas are exchanged, with a view of findings ways on how to enrich and grow tourism investments in Kasese district.
