Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has told journalists said that he would not honour summons to appear at Old Kampala Police Station.
The Police summoned the lord Mayor in regard to allegations that he conducted activities of and belongs to an unlawful society, For God and My Country (4GC) and he was supposed to appear before the CID a conniving with the day his supposed to appear before the tribunal .
The tribunal is investigating the Lord Mayor on allegations of abuse of office, incompetence and misconduct.
Speaking before journalists at City hall, Lukwago accused police for being used by his political enemy seeking to sabotage his engagements including appearance before the tribunal to give his testimony.
“My Kayihura i will not come and will not honour the summons”said Lukwago
The Lord is expected to appear before the tribunal on the same day he’s expected at Old Kampala Police station to respond to the summons.
Last week, police issued summons against Lukwago and other opposition activists of the banned For God and My Country (4GC) pressure group.
According to the summons, Lukwago and other 4GC members, convened an illegal assembly on 19th July at the 4GC offices on Katonga Road here in Kampala and later addressed journalists.
Meanwhile Police deputy spokesperson Onyango said they had listened to Lukwago out cry for him to attend the tribunal and they have decided to reschedule his summons to another day when his not attending the tribunal.
