MASAKA;-Masaka diocese is set to conduct this year’s consecration on 5th August this year at the diocesan headquarters at St John’s Cathedral Kitovu in Masaka municipality.
This year, at least 7 news priests expected to be ordained, 1 missionary and 12 other priests will be elevated to deacons.
Rev Fr. Joseph Kasangaki, the Information officer Masaka Diocese says Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa will conduct the consecration helped by a number of other priests.
He says Bishop Kaggwa who is currently abroad shall have come back to conduct the ordination ceremony.
Last year, at least 13 new priests were ordained at Kitovu cathedral indicating a slight reduction in the number of candidate completing priesthood vocation. In 2015, 12 priests were ordained.
However, the Catholic Church takes pride in the continuity of priestly ordination since the 1913 when their first two candidates were ordained in Uganda, by the then missionary bishop of Masaka Henri Streicher.
